Carbondale currently has three official Sister Cities. Our official connections are with Shimla, India; Nakajo, Japan; and Tainan City, Taiwan.

- Personal Safety Classes for Women
The City of Carbondale Police Department offers Personal Safety Classes for Women. The classes, which are geared toward sexual assault prevention, are designed to teach women prevention and precaution methods and how to escape from an attack should one occur.

Carbondale has a number of programs geared toward those hoping to buy or renovate homes in the cities. Also includes information on housing codes and inspections for commercial, residential, and rental buildings.
