Requesting Items in I-Share

While you may be able to borrow the majority of items in I-Share, there are items individual libraries have chosen not to lend.

Typical Items you can borrow via I-Share:

  • Books (print)
  • CDs
  • DVDs

Items that are typically "unrequestable":

  • eJournals
  • Articles
  • eBooks
  • Print Journals
  • Items on Course Reserves
  • Reference Materials
  • Special Collections

An item can be unrequestable if: Things To Try if Your Request Failed
The item is for in-library use only. (Example: Course Reserves)

If the item is at Morris Library, you must retrieve it from the shelf.

If it is at SIUC Storage I and II, use the Interlibrary Loan form to have it delivered to Morris Library.

Look for a copy from a different library in I-Share from which it might be requestable.

If Morris Library does NOT own the following items, use Interlibrary Loan:

  • Articles
  • Journals
  • Items not found  or not requestable in I-Share
