Viewing MyLibrary ebooks

You can view Myilibrary ebooks in every browser but you must enable JavaScript.

 

Printing and saving sections

Up to 10% of the title may be printed or saved from the browser. See instructions on the right for downloading entire ebooks.

 

Access issues

Most of our ebooks allow one user access at a time. If your instructor assigned an ebook for your class, please contact aimre@lib.siu.edu and send instructor's name and course number. We will try to upgrade our purchase to a multiuser access model.

Downloadable titles

A subset of titles hosted on the Myilibrary platform can be downloaded.  Downloadable titles will have the "Add to Bookshelf for Download" link. If this link is not present on the product page, the title cannot be downloaded.

Downloading on Desktop or Laptop Computers

These first four steps are required for all first time desktop users.  These initial steps need to be completed only once.

  1. Create an Account in Myilibrary. 
  2. Set up an Adobe ID.
  3. Install Adobe® Digital Editions 1.7.1 or higher.
  4. Enter Adobe ID information into Adobe Digital Editions.

Now you are ready to download selected ebooks.

  1. Click on "Add to Bookshelf for Download" - all downloadable MyiLibrary eBooks have this link.  If only the "Open Now" link is present, the title cannot be downloaded.
  2. Log into "My Account."
  3. Go to Bookshelf. 
  4. After placing the title on your bookshelf, you have 48 hours to download the title.
  5. Click on the download button on the right.  (You may need to scroll to the right to see the download button). 
  6. Open the book with Adobe Digital Editions.
  7. Downloaded titles cannot be returned early.
 

Downloading on Apple or Android Devices

These first four steps are required for all first time Apple and Android device users. These initial steps need to be completed only once.

  1. Create an Account in Myilibrary.
  2. Install one of two free aps: Bluefire Reader app or Readmill app.
  • For BlueFire Reader you need to set up an Adobe ID and add your Adobe ID to BlueFire.
  • Readmill requires you to create your Readmill account.

Now you are ready to download selected ebooks.

  1. Click on "Add to Bookshelf for Download" - all downloadable MyiLibrary eBooks have this link.  If only the "Open Now" link is present, the title cannot be downloaded.
  2. Log into "My Account."
  3. Go to Bookshelf. 
  4. After placing the title on your bookshelf, you have 48 hours to download the title.
  5. Click on the download button on the right.  (You may need to scroll to the right to see the download button). 
  6. Open the book with your app.
  7. Downloaded titles cannot be returned early.
