Welcome to International Studies research guide!
This guide is created to support the teaching and studying of the major and minor of International Studies.
Introduction of the program:"
- The program requires 46-48 semester hours of coursework in global and International Studies, a regional focus, and proficiency in a world language.
- Because of the program’s multidisciplinary nature, courses must be selected in close consultation with the International Studies Advisor, Brooke Thibeault, Associate Director of Foreign Language and International Trade. Course descriptions are available under the appropriate academic programs, including the University Core Curriculum, in the latest edition of the University’s Undergraduate Catalog.
- Besides a broad overview of comparative global issues, the program provides a specialization in a specific region. It is thus strongly recommended that International Studies majors take part in an overseas study program, which can be arranged through the offices of Center for International Education and Study Abroad. Students may substitute study abroad for two courses in category II (regional specialties) in the appropriate region. Regional expertise must be from one of these four broad, geographical areas: Africa and the Middle East, Asia and the South Pacific, Europe, and Latin American and the Caribbean."
