Proposals should be submitted via email to opensiuc@lib.siu.edu. Information must include:
- Contact information, including name, title, email address, and phone number
- Title of proposed journal
- Aims and scope of journal
- If for an existing journal, URL or ISSN
- Editor(s) names and affiliations
- Editorial board names and affiliations, if applicable
- Anticipated launch date
- Frequency of publication (monthly, quarterly, annual, etc.)
- Indication if peer-reviewed
- Any special needs required
All requests will be reviewed by the OpenSIUC Coordinator and the Institutional Repository Group for final approval. Requests meeting all the standards listed above will be given preference.
Upon approval, the OpenSIUC staff will:
- Work with the Editor(s) to design and create the journal site
- Provide training as needed
- Submit information on the journal to the DOAJ, https://doaj.org/
- Submit a request for an ISSN to https://www.loc.gov/issn/
- Notify cataloging when we have an ISSN to add the journal title to our catalog
Journals will be published using bepress’ DigitalCommons platform and will be hosted in OpenSIUC
OpenSIUC staff will work with faculty, students, and staff for appropriate training in using all the features for electronic publishing.
