eBook Downloading Instructions: Downloading EBSCO ebooks or ebook chapters

EBSCO Support

Downloading ebook chapters

EBSCO allows downloading eBook chapters or a custom range of pages to your computer or device as PDFs.  See EBSCO's instructions on saving sections of an ebook.

  • Some titles may not allow for printing due to individual publisher-specified limits.
  • The number of pages may vary depending on individual publisher-specified limits.
  • If you have reached your printing limit, the print option will still appear but when you attempt to print more than what the publisher permits, you will be informed that you have zero pages remaining to print. EBSCO will allow you to print/download more content after a few hours when you start a new EBSCO session or when you log into the database on a different device.

Downloading on Desktop or laptop computers

These first four steps are required for all first time desktop users. These initial steps need to be completed only once.

  1. Set up a MyEBSCO account (click on "Sign in" at the top of any EBSCOhost page).
  2. Set up an Adobe ID.
  3. Install Adobe Digital Editions (most recent version recommended).
  4. Enter Adobe ID information into Adobe Digital Editions.
  5. Follow the download eBook instructions from EBSCO.

To learn more, watch a brief tutorial demonstrating the download functionality of the EBSCO ebook platform.

Early Return of ebooks

Many of our ebooks are purchased with a single user license. You can return your ebook before the end of the checkout period to enable other SIUC users to access that title.  Follow the simple steps on the EBSCO Support site .
