IRM procedures for handling unbound
items or bound items with accompanying paper materials
1. Acquisitions
- Items are received, stamped and barcoded (except
for maps)
- All items sent to Preservation.
2. Preservation
- Preservation makes a recommendation regarding
housing and storage of items, noted on salmon flag.
- All items sent to Cataloging: map-related items
to Beth.
3. Cataloging
- Map-related items are taken to Harry for housing
and storage determination.
- After cataloging, item is returned to
Preservation for binding/housing.
4. Preservation/Bindery
- Items are bound in-house or sent to the bindery.
- If items returned from the bindery are different
than requested, item sent to Cataloging to change record information.
- Items sent to Marking.
5. Marking
- Follow any specific directions noted regarding enclosures.
