Memorandum of Understanding
between Morris Library and the Publisher of (Name of Journal)
The parties agree as follows:
(a) Morris Library will:
(i) Provide free and open access to the content of (name of journal) via the Internet or any subsequent technology for so long as the resource is hosted on OpenSIUC;
(ii) Provide administrative access to (name of journal) on OpenSIUC to allow the Publisher to use the available administrative tools and post e-journal content to OpenSIUC;
(iii) Strive, in the absence of unforeseen technical difficulties and routine maintenance, to provide 24/7 access to (name of journal) and its contents;
(iv) Provide the Publisher with free hosting services;
(v) Make no claim to the copyright of the content; and
(vi) In the event of a decision to discontinue hosting services provide the Publisher with 6 months prior written notice of its intention to do so.
(b) The Publisher will:
(i) Be fully responsible for all aspects of the creation and updating of (name of journal) content to OpenSIUC;
(ii) Agree to appointment of an OpenSIUC staff member as an administrator for the journal and to inform the OpenSIUC staff upon the appointment of other administrators;
(iii) Acknowledge that in the event of a decision to cease the use of OpenSIUC for the dissemination of (name of journal), all content in OpenSIUC up to the date of notification of the decision will continue to be made available via OpenSIUC;
(iv) Acknowledge that in the event of a decision to cease the use of OpenSIUC for the dissemination of (name of journal), no mechanism for delivery of files from OpenSIUC is guaranteed other than the downloading of existing files via the public interface;
(v) Acknowledge that any other method for the delivery of existing files (such as a batch transfer) may incur fees as determined by Bepress, owners of the software on which OpenSIUC is built and maintained; and
(vi) In the event of a decision to cease the use of OpenSIUC for the dissemination of (name of journal), provide Morris Library with 6 month’s prior written notice of its intention to do so.
