Morris Library owns over 250,000 maps. Most of them are available through a card catalog in Geospatial Resources on the 4th floor. Some of them can be searched online through I-Share.
The best way to find maps using I-Share is to go directly to the Advanced Search. From the Library’s main page, http://www.lib.siu.edu/, click on “Books and More”, and then click on “Advanced I-Share Search.”
Enter your search words into the boxes at the top. You can limit your search in a variety of ways – Publication date, Language, etc. Under “Format”, select “Map.” Scroll to the bottom of the screen. In the drop-down menu that says “All I-Share Libraries”, select “SIUC Only.” Click on Find.
On the right side of the Results screen, there is a list of ways to further “Narrow Your Search.” Scroll down to “Genre.” In the picture below are some examples of the types of map limits that are available:
Select the item that you are interested in and bring the call number with you to the Map Library. One of our staff will help you locate the map and possibly find similar items that will help you.
